Polyester Filter Cloth and Its Applications
Polyester filter cloth, also referred to as polyester needle felt filter bag, is a widely used filtration material recognized for its durability, cost-effectiveness, and broad industrial compatibility. Thanks to its balanced performance profile, it is one of the most common solutions for dust collection and air filtration in medium-temperature environments.
Production Process
The manufacturing process begins by needle punching polyester fibers to form a dense and robust nonwoven filter fabric. This fabric is then treated through a series of surface modifications:
Hydrophobic and Oleophobic Impregnation: The fabric is immersed in specialized liquids to gain water- and oil-repellent properties.
Glazing Process: One surface of the fabric is smoothed to facilitate dust release during cleaning cycles, improving filter performance and self-cleaning capacity.
After surface treatments, the filter fabric is rolled, cut to specific dimensions, and sent to sewing lines. Using chain-stitch machines, the fabric is sewn into cylindrical bags. A bottom cap is added for sealing, while a top elastic collar is attached to ensure compatibility with filter cages and venturi systems.
Each finished bag undergoes final trimming, inspection, and packaging before shipment.
Technical Features and Performance
Polyester filter cloth is mechanically strong and highly resistant to tearing, stretching, and abrasion. It is available in various weights—including 400, 500, 525, 550, and 600 g/m²—to suit different filtration loads and system designs.
Key Parameters in Filter Bag Selection:
Chemical properties of the dust (e.g., acids, solvents, oxides)
Distance between the filtration unit and the production line
Air volume and system capacity
Temperature and humidity of the filtered air
For instance, in high-temperature operations such as asphalt plants, Nomex (meta-aramid) bags are typically recommended. In contrast, polyester filter bags are ideal for applications operating at temperatures up to 150°C.
Professional Support & Field Services
With extensive industry expertise, Fora Filter offers technical consultation and on-site evaluations to ensure the correct filter bag selection based on your operational needs. Our process begins with an in-depth analysis of your filtration system, considering:
Type and origin of dust
System layout and design
Operating temperature and moisture levels
Process-specific filtration demands
If necessary, our field teams conduct site visits to assess your installation and provide tailored recommendations for maximum efficiency, durability, and system compatibility.
Industries Using Polyester Filter Cloth
Due to its cost-effectiveness and stable performance, polyester filter cloth is widely preferred across numerous industries, including:
Iron and Steel
Cement
Woodworking & Sawdust Collection
Aluminum
Foundries
Chemical Industry
Paper Manufacturing
Fertilizer Production
Its resistance to acidic and oxidizing dust, along with its hydrophobic and glazed surface, prevents water- and oil-based particulates from clinging to the fabric. This allows for efficient dust discharge and longer service life within jet-pulse and mechanical shaker filtration systems.
